This week’s Sports Illustrated included an article from its “vault” on Tom Seaver’s 300th victory, for the White Sox at Yankee Stadium in August of 1985. It mentioned 54,032 cheered the conclusion of the event, but even if that many tickets were sold, I promise you there were not that many people in the stadium at the end.
Alonzo Martinez, Victor Meza, Jose Chalupa, Chico Gonzales… A whole bunch of people I still don’t know fought and won and lost. Yippee. Boy was that Jay White/Eddie Sanchez bout a non-starter.

Mark Sullivan and Darrell Williams again pull in the big names from the greyhound world… Martin White has been the man in the news in the last couple of days, not only for the magnificent exploits of his greyhound Wise Thought in The Derby but also for his criticism of Wimbledon’s kennels and the GBGB, the sport’s governing body.
