After a day’s worth of flying — had a lengthy layover at Dallas/FTW (FTW!) — I landed at McCarran International Airport in Vegas at about 10 p.m. last evening. Garry from PokerNews met me at the baggage carousel, and when my overstuffed bag finally turned up it felt a little like I’d won at roulette
UFC 98 is Saturday night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, with light-heavyweight champ Rashad Evans defending his belt against Lyoto “Bruce Leroy” Machida, and Matt Hughes and Matt Serra finally meeting in a co-main event heralded as a grudge match but more akin to “Oh Jeez, Just Get the Damn Fight Over With” bout. Anyhoo, here’s a list of things that won’t happen at UFC 98: Machida will not move forward.
I mentioned a while back how the chefs over at Poker Soup had invited me into their kitchen a few episodes back (episode 15). I had a lot of fun chatting with them about poker, podcasts, and the upcoming WSOP
We’re getting close, peoples. Just a week more and satellites get crankin’ at the Rio
Michael Phelps has returned to the pool for the first time since Beijing. Phelps, finished 3rd in the 200 free in qualifying heats of the 200 Free at the Charlotte Ultra Swim
Was leafing through the “Tournament Rules ” for the 2009 World Series of Poker yesterday. When the rules for this year first went online about a month ago, much of the attention was given to the new “Code of Player Conduct” that appears as Rule No.
Well, the flight is booked. Still a few details to be ironed out, but I’ll be back in Las Vegas this summer, again helping PokerNews cover the World Series of Poker. Will be arriving in LV in just a week-and-a-half (no… really?), and once more I’ll be there for the duration, all the way ’til mid-July when the new November Nine is set
Same format as before (Horse, Post position, My odds, morning odds): 13: Flying Private, PP10, 99-1, 50-1 I developed a theory today to cover Mine That Bird’s victory. Mine That Bird won because he’s a cheap horse and hasn’t been spoiled like most of the other Derby horses. Godolphin spent 2 million dollars on Desert Storm.
Wayne Bailey looks ahead to Saturday’s big race where Paco Boy will attempt to silence the doubters once and for all… Despite winning the Bet365 mile at Sandown , there are still those that doubt Paco Boy’s ability to perform at the top level, and by the sounds of it, Richard Hannon is getting sick and tired of hearing negative comments about his colt: “Every time people talk about Paco, they keep moving the goalposts…First they said he didn’t stay a mile, now they are saying he won’t win a Group One over a mile. He doesn’t get the credit he deserves.” But it seems that backers are finally getting the message and at the time of writing, they’ve pushed his price into [2.5] on the machine.
